About Troy and Lexie

Hey!
Welcome to our info page!
Enjoy the little blurb about us!

Lexie was born in Nyon, a small town outside of Geneva Switzerland. She attended college at Taylor University in Indiana where she got a degree in Elementary Education and TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language).  Lexie loves to serve her husband, eat chocolate, socialize, have quality and meaningful conversations with people, teach little kids, speak whatever language she can, cook, and travel the world!

Troy was born in Westlake, Ohio. Troy was an awesome paramedic in the States before moving to the DR. He worked in an ambulance and worked in a hospital ER (He’s got some great stories!) Troy loves to be intense at pretty much everything he does. Put the word EXTREME next to everything he does and you’ll describe him perfectly!  Extreme workout, extreme talking, extreme researcher, extreme shopping, extreme relaxing, extreme video gamer, extreme snacker. I (Lexie) have never seen anyone work like Troy does and put 110% into everything he does! He loves Flamming Hot Cheetos and Chipotle! (Sadly neither of those things can be bought in the DR). Over the last year has decided to eat healthy to motivate others around him to pursue/achieve their health and fitness goals. He also loves his wife very well! 🙂

How did God put us together?

Long story short. Troy saw Lexie and knew he was going to date her. Lexie was busy getting ready to move to the DR and didn’t see it coming! So here it is. We met in April 2012, started dating in May 2012, got engaged in July 2012 and got married in December 2012. Yep, that’s right. It all happened in a little over 8 months! God’s timing is crazy and so are His plans but we listened to Him and couldn’t be happier! J

5 days after getting married, we moved to the Dominican Republic. Troy started working at CMA as their paramedic and Lexie continued working in her first year of teaching. The perfect couple! (See August 17th 2014 blog about Troy’s new job!)

Why Jarabacoa in the Dominican Republic?

Like I said. God’s timing is crazy. If you keep Him at the center of your life and seek Him first then you will find His perfect plan! I (Lexie) didn’t know about the DR until my junior year in college. Troy didn’t know about the DR until he met Lexie. God brought us here to teach first grade at Doulos Discovery School, disciple, model a Christian life and help troubled teens at CMA. We choose Him daily. We struggle daily and daily His chooses us to do His work. As long as God calls us to do work in the DR is as long as we will be here!

You both sound like AMAZING people and I can say for sure that my daughter thinks you are an EXCELLENT and kind teacher. I am grateful that we found Doulos and you! Funny thing though, my husband and I too had the same whirlwind relationship… Met April 2007, dating May 2007, got engaged August 2007, married December. Sometimes you just know that person is your soulmate and why bother wasting time. God Bless you both in all you do.

    1. Thank you so much Lisa! I am certainly enjoying teaching your daughter!! She’s such a sweet heart! 🙂
